Help Shape Paonia’s Future — Serve on the Board of Trustees
In April 2026, the Town of Paonia will seat new members on the Board of Trustees, and five seats are open:
- Two (2) seats with 2-year terms
- Three (3) seats with 4-year terms
If you care about how Paonia spends, plans, and protects what makes it Paonia, this is your invitation.
Who can serve
You’re eligible if you:
- Are a registered voter, and
- Have resided within the Town of Paonia for at least the past 12 months
No special pedigree required. Just residency, eligibility, and a willingness to engage.
What Trustees actually do
Trustees are the town’s legislative body. That means:
- Setting policy and long-term direction for Paonia
- Adopting the annual budget and overseeing public funds
- Passing ordinances and resolutions that may affect daily life
- Working with the Town Administrator to ensure services run effectively
- Representing the community’s interests, not special ones, during public meetings
Trustees wrestle with real-world issues: infrastructure, housing, water, land use, public safety, economic resilience, and how to keep Paonia livable without losing its soul. It’s collaborative, sometimes messy, occasionally frustrating and genuinely consequential.
Why it matters
Serving as a Trustee is one of the most direct ways to influence Paonia’s future. Decisions made at this table ripple outward for years. This is local democracy with sleeves rolled up.
If you’ve ever said, “someone should do something about that,” this is that moment.
Filing deadlines, and official requirements will be available on the Town’s website. Candidate packets can be picked up through the Clerk’s Office on 1/6/2026, at Town Hall (214 Grand Ave. – Mon. through Fri. between 8 AM to 4 PM).
Paonia works best when its board reflects the people who live here.
Please consider stepping forward, we need you!
