CDOT contractors will begin rockfall mitigation work next week along CO Hwy 133 between Paonia and Carbondale, near the Paonia State Park and Reservoir. This preventative maintenance is part of our continuing efforts to decrease the chances of future unexpected rockfall incidents, which the canyon is prone to. The project is expected to last until late October.

The traffic impacts are expected to be minimal - motorists can expect about 15-minute delays. The project team will be mindful of local events and avoid weekend work when possible in order to facilitate community and visitor traffic in the area, to Paonia State Park and travel along CO 133.

Please contact the CDOT project's public information managers with any questions.
